Thinking form & content:
Gopal Nayak Chandavath's creation of purely abstract work followed a long period of
development and maturation of
intense theoretical thought based on his personal artistic experiences. Shapes, colors, lines, and use
of space always
express the reality found in nature, but its structure rather than its appearance.
Gopal learned from various sources during his
childhood at Yellandu collieries, and was
amazed by the hoardings and signboard painters, which invoked the artist in him.
The fascination for color symbolism and psychology continued as he grew. His interest in art led him to
join the art college. He graduated in Fine Arts
from JNT University, Hyderabad in 1996, and later majored from SN School, University of Hyderabad in
1998.
His proficiency as a designer
amplifies his other abilities, which are evident from his
contributions at reputed organizations like RK Swamy/BBDO Advertising, Pramati, IBM,
Microsoft, McKinsey & Company,
YASU (now SAP), and so on.
Influenced by Cubism, Avant-garde concepts and his approach to art, evolved him as an abstract
expressionist. His perpetual examination of natural
elements, geometry, colors, and experiments using various media meliorates his personal style of
abstract art.
The key to his recent works is his passion for nature comprehended either from
location or imagination. He lets color become the subject of his paintings, and a particular color can
forward or recede depending upon the surrounding colors,
forms, and space. He believes, inner consciousness and intense spirit are the central aspects of his
art.
